Species at Risk on Prince Edward County's South Shore

WANTED!   Alive - not Dead!

Let us ensure that they are respected.

 If you see any of these 32 at-risk species in South Marysburgh / Athol, in or near the area of  wpd Canada’s proposed 29 wind turbines take a photo,  note your  location and fill out the Rare Species Reporting Form .

Send the form or the information to for processing and local records.   

The form includes the following information:  

Observer name:Email / address: 
Observation Date: 
Species Information:Scientific or Common Name  e.g. Blanding’s turtle
Location information:1.        Describe where seen e.g. About 20 metres north of County road 10, 50 metres west of house address 1234, beside the largest oak tree.2.        GPS coordinates (note datum system used; prefer using NAD83) or location on a National Topographic map. If you do not have access to a hand held GPS/phone, note the spot and we will confirm the coordinates with you later.
Accuracy of location:This is recorded by number. If the reading was taken after the sighting, or from your car, note how far from the site you might have been.
0 = accurate to within 1 metre1 = accurate to within 10 metres e.g. GPS reading2 = accurate to within 100 metres3 = accurate to within 1000 metres
DescriptionClose up photograph of the bird
Habitat Brief description and present land use such as “in small marshy wood by pasture” or “farm field - active cropland”
    Ontario has an Endangered Species Act; Canada has a Species at Risk Act.
