Part One, Workshop<\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The first 20 to register will receive a bat house kit and will assemble it at the workshop. Our bat specialists will guide you in the process.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It will be ready for you to install in your backyard.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Free of charge. Donations happily accepted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There will also be a 30-minute presentation on the biology and current state of bats.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

 PRESENTERS: Chris Grooms & Dale Kristensen<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Part Two, Walk<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

A walk at the Lennox Generating Station, 7263 Hwy 33, Bath<\/a>, to see existing Purple Martin Houses, Tree Swallow\/Bluebird Houses, Osprey Platforms and Peregrine Falcon Boxes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Learn about the Ontario Power Generation Wildlife Habitat Accreditation and the ongoing bird monitoring by the Lennox and Addington Stewardship Council.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Please car pool there if possible and meet in the parking lot.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

PRESENTERS: Kurt Hennige and Ashley Fox<\/p>\n\n\n\n

NOTE: All are welcome to the workshop and the walk, but only the first 20 pre-registered will be able to assemble a bat box.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Links to online resources for the construction of the bat houses will be available, as well as additional plans for constructing bat roosting boxes. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

PRESENTERS<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dale Kristensen<\/strong> is an <\/strong>Instructor\/lecturer at Queen’s University Biology Department (Ret’d).  Manager of the Queen’s plant research facility. And an Environmental Consultant specializing in biodiversity and ecology since1986. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Chris Grooms<\/strong> has volunteered with the Kingston Field Naturalists for about 40 years. He has also been building and managing bird nesting structures for more than 4 decades. He is a Research Technician and lab manager at the Paleoecological Environmental Assessment and Research Lab (PEARL) in the Biology Department of Queen’s University.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kurt Hennige<\/strong> has been a working biologist for most of his life. His specialties include: Enhanced Marsh Monitoring, Bat monitoring, Breeding bird surveys, eBird reviewer for several counties, and past Chair of the Kingston Field Naturalists.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ashley Fox<\/strong> is an Environmental Advisor at Ontario Power Generation (OPG), focusing on sustainable development initiatives and environmental compliance. She holds a Master’s in Environment and Business<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
