P.E.C. Bioblitz

Since 2015, the Prince Edward County Field Naturalists, along with experts from Prince Edward County and across Ontario, lead teams of volunteers and the interested public, through a different natural area every June in effort to catalogue birds, insects, plants, amphibians and reptiles. A Bioblitz is described as a snapshot in time of the biota (plants and animals) observed over a 24-hour period. The prime objective is to conduct a biological survey including both experts and non-experts, to catalogue the flora and fauna of a specific area on a June weekend, and give members of the community the opportunity to discover the natural values of that area.  The following links will describe each Bioblitz, who took part, and what was documented.
